Installing mplayer
From YourSupportStoreWiki
The best way to install it is to use your distributions package manager and then install
Redhat based distributions will use yum
Debian based will use aptitude
Slackware will use slapt
SUSE uses smart or zypper
if you use neither then you can download the source or the prepackaged binary rpm deb or tgz.
once the package installed you you can also try installing the codec packages using your package manager also, but if that fails go to mplayers website and download them. the binary codec packages do not work for normal Windows players and only work for mplayer.
once downloaded unpack them to you codecs directory normally /usr/lib/codecs or /usr/local/lib/codecs.
